About Rockwood Glen Horse Farm

Sacramento, CA Horse Farm

Rockwood Glen Horse Farm is committed to teaching true horsemanship, and helping students of all ages learn how to groom, care for, understand, respect, and ride a horse.

We provide patient horses and a calm environment to make your horse experience wonderful. Our farm is safe and tranquil with a therapeutic happy atmosphere. It is the perfect learning facility for horseback riding.

"My grandma and grandpa Henning purchased Rockwood in 1964 and we have been in business for over 50 years." Since then we have developed a professional horse-show barn, a teaching facility, and a birthing site of many generations of equines.

Instead of driving to the surrounding areas, such as Elk Grove, Elverta, or Rancho Murrieta, we provide a facility right in the heart of Sacramento. It is centrally located near downtown, close to Watt Ave between Highway 50 and highway 80. It is a mile from the American River, which makes for amazing trail rides for students.

"After generations of horsemanship secrets and traditions being passed down from my grandparents to my mom and then onto me, I was destined to be on a horse, teaching, competing, and being around the horses, from the beginning to the end of my time."

BJ Henning-LeMaster / BJ Henning-LeMaster

BJ Henning-LeMaster moved with her parents to the Rockwood ranch in 1964. The whole family rode and it became a show and training barn in the early 70′s. In addition to training and giving lessons, BJ became a carded judge with CSHA at 17 and with AHSA at 21, which allowed her to judge horses all over the world.

She continues to judge extensively, now holding 8 judging cards, as well as running Rockwood Glen Horse Farm’s training facility. BJ’s students have competed at all levels, World, National and State, and there have been extensive numbers of Championships and World Titles earned for both horse and rider. If you choose not to show, BJ will ensure that you learn how to ride safely and truly enjoy the sport of horses.

Heather LeMaster / Heather LeMaster

Heather Manfredda is BJ's daughter. She was born and raised in Sacramento. Heather first rode a horse at the age of 18 months. She is a 15-time world champion in youth, amateur and open divisions combined and in multiple different breed shows. Heather jumps, work cows, and enjoys both trail rides and overnight horse camping. Thanks to the hard work and dedication she learned from her coach, who happens to be her mother, Heather learned the immeasurable amount of work it takes to understand a 1,500 pound animal. Heather has a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Communication from Sacramento State University, and now resides in Texas with her husband Marc, two dogs, and of course her horse, Nero.
